Kill Lists? Dems don't want to know

On national security, Obama routinely disregards the rule of law -- and his party remains willfully ignorant

(Salon) But, there’s also an additional way to read this...namely, as the predictable result of a political duopoly that so fundamentally agrees on extra-constitutional national security and civil liberties policies, that those policies are no longer permitted to be part of any “serious” national political discussion.

Obama's justice department grants final immunity to Bush's CIA torturers

(the Guardian) By closing two cases of detainees tortured to death, Obama has put the US beyond any accountability under the rule of law

Note how, in Obama's new formulation, those who believed that Bush officials should be held criminally accountable for their torture crimes – should be subjected to the rule of law on equal terms with ordinary citizens – were now scorned as "the forces that divide us". On the same day, Holder issued his own statement arguing that "it would be unfair to prosecute dedicated men and women working to protect America for conduct that was sanctioned in advance by the justice department."

Romney "Wins" Maine By Less Than 200 Votes With Only 84% Reporting, GOP Says Some Votes Don't Count

There are so many examples of voter fraud and election fraud, so many party officials and government employees that have been convicted, that I refuse to bother with sourcing enough to bludgeon doubters with that point here. Look it up yourselves. I've always known, even before I became interested in what goes on in the world, on some level, that voting is generally pointless; "electable" candidates always seem to be the same people and their families over and over and/or in some way pre-selected by other filthy-rich, filthy-powerful, uppity-ass crooks. That's why I've only voted twice, and I only viewed my actions in a something-is-better-than-nothing light, not as something real and effective that would likely make any difference. I felt no sense of accomplishment, only a strange mix of both duty and resignation.

Is Voting Irrelevant?

Winners are "projected" with 0% of votes counted or precincts reporting by every media outlet using the same exit polling data while pretending it is their own independent data.

"Paradox": Federal Workers/Contractors Donate More to Candidate Promising Most Cuts to Government

from The Washington Post:

Bloomberg:
Ron Paul, the presidential candidate who says he’ll shrink government the most, is attracting more campaign cash than any of his Republican rivals from two unlikely sources: U.S. government workers and employees of the biggest federal contractors.

Related:
Military personnel donate more to the candidate who promises an end to most military operations world wide than all other Republican candidates combined, even outpacing the Nobel Peace-Prize-Winner-in-Chief.

ACLU: 10 years after 9/11, Obama continues illegal Bush-era civil liberties abuses

Glenn Greenwald highlights the ACLU report on secret assassinations, warrantless wiretapping and more on the liberal website Salon.com:

The ACLU decided to use the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attack to comprehensively survey the severe erosion of civil liberties justified in the name of that event, an erosion that -- as it documents -- continues unabated, indeed often in accelerated form, under the Obama administration.

The group today is issuing a report entitled A Call to Courage: Reclaiming Our Liberties Ten Years After 9/11; that title is intended to underscore the irony that political leaders who prance around as courageous warriors against Terrorism in fact rely on one primary weapon -- fear-mongering: the absence of courage -- to vest the government with ever-more power and the citizenry with ever-fewer rights.

Obama Goes All Out For Dirty Banker Deal

My theory is that the Obama administration is trying to secure its 2012 campaign war chest with this settlement deal. If Barry can make this foreclosure thing go away for the banks, you can bet he’ll win the contributions battle against the Republicans next summer.

Which is good for him, I guess. But it seems to me that it might be time to wonder if is this the most disappointing president we’ve ever had.

Decline of Empires

Chalmers Johnson, author of Blowback, Sorrows of Empire and Nemesis: The Last Days of the American Republic , talks about the similarities in the decline of the Roman and Soviet empires and the signs that the U.S. empire is exhibiting the same symptoms: overextension, corruption and the inability to reform.

John Pilger's "The War You Don't See" pt. 1

This film investigates how the media has reported war, from the First World War to the present day. Fox News, MSNBC, BBC, ITV and American network news, such as CBS News are included.

John Pilger, the winner of journalism's top awards for both press and broadcasting, including academy awards in the UK and US, questions the role of the media in war. In "The War You Don't See", Pilger, himself a renowned correspondent, asks whether mainstream news has become an integral part of war-making.

Campaigning Obama: You can't force people to buy health care; Pres. Obama: Yes we can!

"Senator Clinton is arguing that the only way to get every American covered is if you force every American to buy health care," Mr. Obama told Iowa reporters in November 2007. "And unfortunately she hasn't told anybody how she would enforce this mandate."

He underlined again during the debate: "I don't think that the problem with the American people is that they are not being forced to get health care."

Obama's popularity needs a boost from a terrorist attack

Talk about a bad analogy: Appearing on television recently, former Hillary Clinton campaign adviser and current public relations executive Mark Penn suggested that President Obama needs a moment "similar" to the tragic terrorist attack on the Oklahoma City federal building, in order to "reconnect" with voters.
