UPDATE:
In Defense of Titties
Now, I know what you’re saying: “Ryan, why do you have to defend titties? Who could hate titties? I love them!” I’m not talking about those wonderful delights that have caused men to spend crazy amounts of money on dinners at the Olive Garden. I’m talking about those wonderful MMA fighters who may not be in the best possible shape. The ones who look as if they just got done with a workout of 12-ounce curls. They may have a little junk in the trunk, if you will. They’re husky. Big boned. Yep, use pretty much every line a mother uses to make her son feel better for loving to eat Cheetos for every meal. (They’re so tasty, though!)
Let’s face it: You have moobs. Man boobs. If you’ve been watching this season’s The Ultimate Fighter (and if you haven’t, what’s wrong with you? Rampage, Rashad, Kimbo!?!?), then you’ve seen Rampage continue to make fun of Darrill Schoonover by calling him “titties,” since Big D may not be the best physical specimen on Earth. But having an amazing physique doesn’t make you a good fighter. As Kenny Powers says in Eastbound and Down on HBO, “I play real sports … not trying to be the best at exercising.” So even though these guys may not have beautifully etched abs, cannonball delts, cobra-like lats, muscular thighs, and a firm bottom, it doesn’t mean they can’t scrap. (Did I really just write that sentence? Holy hell! I need to go look at pictures of hot chicks ASAP.)

The True Origin of Christmas

Why do people think that Christmas is wonderful? It certainly felt wonderful to me. I trusted what my parents told me. I had no reason to doubt them. They were merely teaching me what their parents had taught them. I never questioned the true origin of Christmas!
Most never reflect on why they believe what they believe or do what they do. We live in a world filled with customs, but few ever seek to understand their origin. We generally accept them without question. Most people basically do what everyone else does—because it is easy and natural!
It was 300 years after Christ before the Roman church kept Christmas, and not until the fifth century that it was mandated to be kept throughout the empire as an official festival honoring “Christ.”
December 25th was not selected because it was the birth of Christ or because it was even near it. It was selected because it coincided with the idolatrous pagan festival Saturnalia—and this celebration must be carefully examined. In any event, we do not know the exact date of Christ’s birth.

The Ponzi Decade

It is fitting that we end the current decade just like we started it, with the bursting of bubbles. In the early part of the decade we were dealing with the fallout of the technology bust. That was quickly replaced by the even bigger housing bubble and that has now popped as well. The trillions lost by average Americans is incredible but in reality nothing was technically lost because the entire decade was one enormous Ponzi scheme and like all Ponzi schemes the wealth created is false. Bernard Madoff was simply the mascot of a decade built on phony money spewed out by the corporatocracy of Wall Street. What is even more troubling is how the actions taken by Wall Street are not being prosecuted in the same fashion as our justice system took on Bernard Madoff. The reason for that is the corporatocracy has legalized national bank robbery.

Aspartame alert: Diet soda destroys kidney function
(NaturalNews) Scientists from Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston have revealed results from a study outlining some of the effects of artificial sweeteners on the body. Conducted on a group of 3,000 women, the results indicated that those who drank two or more artificially-sweetened beverages a day doubled their risk of more-rapid-than-normal kidney function decline.
When aspartame was first approved in the 1970s under the name "NutraSweet", studies were submitted as supposed proof that the artificial chemical was safe. The FDA initially approved the chemical in 1974 for use in a limited number of foods based upon the studies submitted by G.D. Searle Co., the company that invented aspartame.
Following a discovery made shortly thereafter by a research psychiatrist who found that aspartic acid, a primary ingredient in aspartame, caused holes to form in the brains of mice, the FDA decided to form its own internal task force to investigate the initial claims made by the Searle Co.
What the agency discovered was a series of falsified claims, compromised study results, and missing information. The claims made in favor of aspartame were so dubious and the evidence so faulty that the FDA decreed that a grand jury should investigate Searle Co.'s claims. Unfortunately, the case failed to move forward when U.S. Attorney Thomas Sullivan and Assistant U.S. Attorney William Conlon failed to initiate any legal action. Conlon was later hired by the law firm that represented Searle Co.

Surveillance Shocker: Sprint Received 8 MILLION Law Enforcement Requests for GPS Location Data in the Past Year
This October, Chris Soghoian — computer security researcher, oft-times journalist, and current technical consultant for the FTC's privacy protection office — attended a closed-door conference called "ISS World". ISS World — the "ISS" is for "Intelligence Support Systems for Lawful Interception, Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Gathering" — is where law enforcement and intelligence agencies consult with telco representatives and surveillance equipment manufacturers about the state of electronic surveillance technology and practice. Armed with a tape recorder, Soghoian went to the conference looking for information about the scope of the government's surveillance practices in the US. What Soghoian uncovered, as he reported on his blog this morning, is more shocking and frightening than anyone could have ever expected.

Jose Aldo: The King Is Dead, Long Live the King

The WEC Featherweight title fight between reigning champion Mike Thomas Brown and number one contender, Jose Aldo, was billed as a classic battle of speed vs. power. Brown, an incredibly strong wrestler with a lethal right hand, is the strongest 145-pounder in the game and looked like a dominant champion in the division with two convincing wins over formerly invincible champ, Urijah Faber, and annihilating top contender Leonard Garcia. The common wisdom coming into the fight was that he should have no problem taking Aldo down once he got his hands on him.
Aldo, on the other hand, displayed lightning fast, dynamic striking of every variety…punches, kicks, knees, elbows…en route to five straight knockout or TKO stoppages inside the WEC cage since becoming a Zuffa athlete and an overall MMA record of 15-1. Naturally, when you heard that Aldo defeated Brown by second round TKO on Wednesday night at the Palms to capture the belt, the first thought had to be that speed triumphed over strength and power.
Not so fast…pun intended.

Cop tasers girl for resisting bedtime (no, seriously)
The local police chief in Ozark, Arkansas is standing behind one of his officers who tasered a 10-year-old girl who was refusing to go to bed.
To hear Bradshaw tell it, he was now in the midst of a full-on brawl on the living-room floor with Kiara, a Grade 5 student. The 65-pounder was "verbally combative ... struck me with her legs and feet in the groin," Bradshaw wrote.
That's when he reached for his holster and delivered a "very very (sic) brief drive stun to her back with my taser."
Unsurprisingly, Kiara's struggling stopped immediately. Bradshaw then cuffed her and carried her to his squad car, since she could no longer walk.

Why boys are turning into girls
Here's something rather rotten from the State of Denmark. Its government yesterday unveiled official research showing that two-year-old children are at risk from a bewildering array of gender-bending chemicals in such everyday items as waterproof clothes, rubber boots, bed linen, food, nappies, sunscreen lotion and moisturising cream.
The 326-page report, published by the environment protection agency, is the latest piece in an increasingly alarming jigsaw. A picture is emerging of ubiquitous chemical contamination driving down sperm counts and feminising male children all over the developed world. And anti-pollution measures and regulations are falling far short of getting to grips with it.
Sperm counts are falling so fast that young men are less fertile than their fathers and produce only a third as much, proportionately, as hamsters. And gender-bending chemicals are increasingly being blamed for the mystery of the "lost boys": babies who should normally be male who have been born as girls instead.

Our Produce-or-Die Culture Is Killing Us -- And We're Idiotically Grinning and Bearing It
We've been reduced to "human assets" in a relentless economic machine. And we can't even complain: appearing cheerful is vital when all of life is monitored by an employer.
Proof abounds of the unending joy and importance of work and production in our wealth-based economy. Just read the job recruitment ads. Or ask any of the people clinging fearfully by their fingernails to those four remaining jobs in America. But is a job -- hopefully a good one -- and workplace strivance really everything? Most of us would say, "Well of course not." But in a nation that now sends police to break up the tent camps and car camps of homeless unemployed citizens who once belonged to the middle class, it might well be everything.

U.S. Spies Buy Stake in Firm That Monitors Blogs, Tweets
America’s spy agencies want to read your blog posts, keep track of your Twitter updates — even check out your book reviews on Amazon.
In-Q-Tel, the investment arm of the CIA and the wider intelligence community, is putting cash into Visible Technologies, a software firm that specializes in monitoring social media. It’s part of a larger movement within the spy services to get better at using ”open source intelligence” — information that’s publicly available, but often hidden in the flood of TV shows, newspaper articles, blog posts, online videos and radio reports generated every day.

Hydrogen-fueled cars become a thing of the present
"When the US government cut funding for hydrogen-fueled cars last May, Energy Secretary Steven Chu said such vehicles will not be practical for another decade or two.
Lim Tae-won thinks he can prove Secretary Chu wrong.
Dr. Lim runs the team at Hyundai (HYMLF.PK)-Kia Motors that is developing hydrogen fuel cell technology. And they are on course, he says, to mass produce hydrogen cars in six years…"
Like every business venture, there is no certainty and therefore this is a gamble. The undertaking to develop this into a commercially viable energy source relies upon funding from the Korean government. Unlike the U.S., Korea probably has the money to fund such a program and as they are keen to carve out leadership niches in the global economy and new world order, look for their commitment to manifest itself in earnest.

Indiana: 500 applicants in 3 days for one $13/hr job
BURNS HARBOR, Ind. — As soon as the job opening was posted on the afternoon of Friday, July 10, the deluge began.
When Stacey Ross, C. R. England’s head of corporate recruiting, arrived at her desk at the company’s Salt Lake City headquarters the next Monday, she found about 300 applications in the company’s e-mail inbox. And the fax machine had spit out an inch-and-a-half thick stack of résumés before running out of paper. By the time she pulled the posting off Careerbuilder.com later in the day, she guessed nearly 500 people had applied for the $13-an-hour job. “It was just shocking,” she said. “I had never seen anything so big.”

This article is particularly interesting because it sheds a little more light on the perspective of the employer, and may explain why a large percentage of applicants do not receive a response to an application or resume submission.

Cook County Sheriff Loses Craigslist "Erotic Services" Ads Case
Yesterday, a federal court tossed a lawsuit against craigslist over erotic advertisements. In March, Cook County Sheriff Thomas Dart alleged that craigslist was liable for the illegal ads posted by its users in its "erotic services" (now "adult services") category. As craigslist argued in their motion for judgment on the pleadings, and as EFF and others pointed out at the time, Dart's complaint had virtually no chance of success because Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act plainly immunized Internet intermediaries like craigslist from civil liability for material posted by third parties.
On Tuesday, the District Court for the Northern District of Illinois agreed with craigslist, throwing out Dart's complaint in its entirety, confirming that Section 230 immunized craigslist from the allegation that it constituted a "public nuisance." The court made a number of important observations regarding the attempt to saddle craigslist with responsibility for the behavior of its users:

New "conservative" Bible will eliminate "liberal" text
If Andy Schlafly has his way, there will be no socialists or snake handlers in the Bible. No woman caught in adultery. And, definitely, no Stephen Colbert.
Schlafly, founder of Conservapedia.com, wants to save the Scriptures from liberals with his latest venture, the Conservative Bible Project. He says translations like the New International Version have added socialist ideals to the Good Book. But his rewrite of the Bible has drawn criticism from biblical scholars, liberals and conservatives.

Paradox
Bite your tongue until it bleeds.
This pain is worth more than what you have to say.
Swallow your pride because silence is golden,
And I wouldn't pay a penny to hear your thoughts.
Lie down your guard and surrender.
All that you're proving is your ignorance.
Choose your words carefully.
He that keeps his mouth keeps his life.
He that opens his lips too wide
Shall bring on his own destruction.
Bite your tongue until it bleeds.
The pain is worth more than what you have to say.
Swallow your pride.

And I wouldn't pay a penny to hear your thoughts.
Lie down your guard.

Huerta: Heart in Hollywood or in Haymakers?

When a fighter is a complete package–skillful, marketable and a winner–its easy to forget the intangible that separates fighters from competitors–heart.
Roger Huerta had an endless supply, it seemed, in and out of the ring. But as FIGHT! contributor Mike Chiappetta excellently discovered at MMA Fanhouse, even the most resilient hearts wear thin under the reproof of others.
Huerta, known for his emotionally draining performances against Leonard Garcia and Clay Guida in 2007, was divided. He was the rags to riches story in the Octagon, however, at the top it feels like critics are trying to rip new clothes into rags. The split lead him to question his identity as a fighter and embrace it as a personality. Hollywood was calling, and even though Marilyn Monroe warned “Hollywood is a place where they’ll pay you a thousand dollars for a kiss and fifty cents for your soul,” Huerta puckered up, believing the grass in Hollywood was greener than it was in Las Vegas.

Smooth Criminal
Harpold is a grandmother of triplets who bought one box of Zyrtec-D cold medicine for her husband at a Rockville pharmacy. Less than seven days later, she bought a box of Mucinex-D cold medicine for her adult daughter at a Clinton pharmacy, thereby purchasing 3.6 grams total of pseudoephedrine in a week’s time.
Those two purchases put her in violation of Indiana law 35-48-4-14.7, which restricts the sale of ephedrine and pseudoephedrine, or PSE, products to no more than 3.0 grams within any seven-day period.
When the police came knocking at the door of Harpold’s Parke County residence on July 30, she was arrested on a Vermillion County warrant for a class-C misdemeanor, which carries a sentence of up to 60 days in jail and up to a $500 fine.

Note: Glenn Beck makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit, but no one is wrong 100% of the time.
And from KFYI.com...
(KFYI News) Half of Congress is in recess, but debate continues over President Obama's health care program concerning privacy.
Section 163 of the bill states that the government would be allowed real-time access to a person's bank records - including direct access to bank accounts for electronic fund transfers.
Even-though the bill mentions privacy aspects, the fact remains that if approved, Obama's health care plan will give the government permission at any time to your personal bank records.
Arizona Congressman John Shadegg says people have the right to be concerned.
"It's pretty Orwellian, it certainly gets the government pretty darn deeply involved in private matters in our lives."
From the Health Care bill itself:
‘‘(1) IN GENERAL.—The Secretary shall adopt
and regularly update standards consistent with the 15
goals described in paragraph (2). 16
‘‘(2) GOALS FOR FINANCIAL AND ADMINISTRA- 17

The Plant of Immortality

Research indicates that aloe vera’s earliest use originated from the Egyptians. This plant, comprised of 99 percent water and 1 percent glycoproteins and polysaccharides, which are anti-inflammatory and healing agents, truly has an interesting history.
Egyptians had the savvy to use this wondrous plant as they were, on every level, ahead of their time. Many of the hieroglyphics on the temple walls as well as the pyramid walls boasted and attested to their love for this commodity even to the point of it being put on the same level as God. They called it “The Plant of Immortality.”

Women and Children First

Woohoo! Mandatory vaccinations! Pregnant mothers and children to the front of the line! God, I'm so thankful to the government and pharmaceutical companies for looking out for everyone and keeping us safe. (sigh) Ok, fine, it sounds great and I'm really busy, but I guess I'll read the fine print...
“Some of the vaccine will be stored in multi-dose vials containing thimerosal, an antibacterial additive that contains mercury,” reports the Washington Post today in an article about which groups will receive the swine flu vaccine first.
“There will also be single-dose syringes without thimerosal, a substance that some assert is harmful to children,” adds the article, without mentioning whether or not people who take the vaccine will get a choice or even be informed if it contains mercury.
Mercury is classified by The Department of Defense as a hazardous material that could cause death if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin, and the EPA is now limiting mercury emissions from factories because the toxin “can damage the brain and nervous system and is especially dangerous to fetuses and small children,” but according to the CDC it’s perfectly safe to inject into your child’s bloodstream.
Some Oklahoma children will get a swine flu vaccine before it is available to the public. If clinical trials go well, the vaccine could be available in limited supplies by mid to late fall, experts said.
IPS Research in Oklahoma City is the first Oklahoma company to conduct the vaccination trials and will begin enrolling study patients Aug. 17, said IPS Research medical director Dr. Louise Thurman.
The trials will test the vaccine’s effectiveness and whether or not it has negative side effects in patients.
She anticipates about 200 children ages 3 to 8 will be able to enroll.
Nationwide, 12,000 children will be given the vaccine for the trial, she said. The company should know today whether it will conduct adult trials, too.
Pharmaceutical companies can be assured that they won’t face reprisals for the many thousands of injuries and deaths that will inevitably occur as a result of exposing millions to mercury and squalene during a mass vaccination program, because the government has already acted to provide them with blanket immunity from lawsuits.
“Vaccine makers and federal officials will be immune from lawsuits that result from any new swine flu vaccine, under a document signed by Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius,” reported the Associated Press earlier this month.
Is that all? For a second there I thought there might actually be another side of the story. Now we can all get on with doing what we're told without question...

Endangered Species
by judge sixkiller
What makes a species become endangered? Is it mostly due to one factor, or is it a combination of more than one? Are endangered or extinct species themselves at fault for their own predicament or demise? Surely not, at least when it comes to species other than humans.
It's been said that 95% of all species of living things in the history of life on Earth are extinct. It has also been said that the Earth is losing between 20 and 150 species every single day. Comforting, no? Well, maybe not all that uncomfortable for most of us, considering that, after all, it's not humans dropping like flies all over the planet. At least not yet.
What brings a species to the precipice of doom can vary from group to group and with different environments or habitats. Lack of food and water, dramatic temperature change, invasive species, disease, and destruction of habitat get the blame most of the time. On rare occasions, freak catastrophic events (like meteor strikes, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, etc.) cause massive damage to large areas and the various living things that inhabit them. Some chalk it up to "natural selection", which is really just an all-inclusive title for a combination of events unforeseen by - and out of the control of - the affected species. Here, however, we come to the underlying difference between human beings and all other species of life that has ever lived: conscious awareness, unforeseen events, and the extent of influence and control of "endangering" factors.
The rainforests are the source of the widest array of species of plants, animals, and insects on the planet. Every day, the most highly developed of the three - the animals - forage or hunt for food, search for water, fight over and control territories, find mates, and raise their young, continuing the cycle and the lessons learned from their parents that has been passed from one generation to the next over the course of hundreds, even thousands years.
None of these animals, however, are consciously aware of the danger they are in from deforestation and human encroachment. On some basic level, they are aware that humans pose a threat, and so they avoid humans and teach their young to do the same. But they are not capable of understanding why, nor do they have the power to prevent humans from destroying the well-being of their kind or environments. They merely go on as they always have, focusing on the immediate, never able to contemplate what it all means, or if it will continue as it has for as long as they have been around.
Ah, but humans...
Humans are remarkable in the fact that despite being far advanced of plants, insects, and animals, great numbers of them choose, either consciously or subconsciously, to behave as the lower forms do. Humans focus on the immediate, on the convenience of what serves their wishes, hungers, and pleasures at a given moment. Humans do as they were taught, because that's how things are done, and because that's the way it has to be. Humans go to the store, to work, to school, to church, to games, bars, court, the gas station, the bank, the movie store, because, well, that's what they were taught, it's what they see other humans doing, so that's what they are supposed to do. What humans don't do for pleasure, they do for "necessity", regardless of whether or not they would find the same things "necessary" or even "pleasurable" if left to their own devices, out of the influence of money and modern society. They merely go on foraging (for food, shiny things, and little pieces of paper), making nests, and playing, hardly ever noticing that the environment in which they live and on which they depend is being transformed, even destroyed, by dangers that are not in the form of typical physical threats, like storms or hungry predators. Humans distance themselves from the thought that doing what everyone else does and doing what they have been taught does not guarantee the same way of life, or even the survival of their species.
Oddly enough, humans themselves are the cause of their own endangerment. War, pollution, nuclear and bio-weapons, theft, rape, and murder on an immensely grand scale threaten everything that they know. Surrounded by danger and enemies, humans seem desperate to belong to a system that would sooner bulldoze them into oblivion for profit than to lend a helping hand or fulfill any promises of protection. They have surrendered the gift of power over their own destinies in exchange for servitude and promises that they will be taken care of, with the condition that they do not question those and that which they serve. What does the future hold for human kind? Unless they elevate their consciousness above that of life forms that have no choice, then it is inevitably extinction.
All U.S. children should get seasonal flu shot: CDC
All U.S. children aged 6 months to 18 years should get a seasonal influenza vaccine every year, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Friday.

As reported here:
"The U.S. government has contracts with several drug companies to develop and produce swine flu vaccines. At least two of those companies, Novartis and GlaxoSmithKline, are using an adjuvant in their H1N1 vaccines."
The adjuvant? Squalene."
The negative effects of squalene have been noted since 1987 in terms of causing severe autoimmune diseases.
As reported here:
"Squalene "contributed to the cascade of reactions called "Gulf War syndrome. (GIs developed) arthritis, fibromyalgia, lymphadenopathy, rashes, photosensitive rashes, malar rashes, chronic fatigue, chronic headaches, abnormal body hair loss, non-healing skin lesions, aphthous ulcers, dizziness, weakness, memory loss, seizures, mood changes, neuropsychiatric problems, anti-thyroid effects, anemia, elevated ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate), systemic lupus erythematosus, multiple sclerosis, ALS, Raynaud's phenomenon, Sjorgren's syndrome, chronic diarrhea, night sweats and low-grade fever."
"Matsumoto's book includes numerous case studies of GIs afflicted with one or more of the above syndromes, their devastating effects, and the outlandish US government reaction - failing to acknowledge their existence or a connection between them and administered vaccines. Also denying the effects of other toxic Gulf theater exposures (like depleted uranium) as well as withholding meaningful treatments or protocols."
Please share this info with everyone you know.
______________________________________________
Editor's note: Mysteriously, "vaccines" for the H1N1 virus were manufactured before the "outbreak", which, coincidentally, was the first time this strain had ever been seen. The U.S. government has recently purchased 100,000,000 (yes, million) doses, "just in case".

Blue Collar Fighter
A good piece about one of my all-time favorites.

Nothing soft survives the Bering Sea. A lone commercial fishing vessel takes the repeated pounding of 30-foot waves off the coast of Alaska that make the 200-foot boat’s steel hull seem like it’s made from plywood. A veritable floating fish-processing factory, it is the essence of efficiency with its workers putting in 20-hour shifts 7 days per week.
When the storm finally subsides, a group of workers attempt to negotiate a hockey rink that has glassed over the ship’s topside deck with ice and are instructed to bust off what looks like a glacier that has affi xed itself to the ship’s bow. The frozen waves are like granite, but 21-year-old Clay Guida is reminded that if he and his coworkers don’t hammer off the extra weight of the ice, the ship could sink.
Armed with a pickax, Guida reaches the bow with his mates and starts hammering. He is a long way from his hometown of Johnsburg, Ill. He is a long way from Colorado, where he was building houses for $10 an hour.
The last meal he ate was hours ago while sliding side to side in the mess hall, although nothing seems appetizing after standing ankle deep in fi sh guts all day and night. Sleep is a luxury. Five months at sea have hardened him, calloused his psyche out of necessity. Indeed, nothing soft survives the Bering Sea. done it a couple of times,” Guida says.
Beyond the glitz, glamour, and bravado of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Clay Guida remains humble and grounded, unaccustomed to fame. One almost expects him to show up at his fights with a lunch pail and thermos. He is a dues-paying member of his local laborer’s union -- hence his nickname, “The Carpenter.” He prides himself on his blue-collar background and takes it with him to the Octagon.

the new Memorial Day
by Judge Sixkiller
We have a holiday that is now seen as reason to celebrate beer, meat, and fireworks. We celebrate acts of celebration. What will happen when fireworks are made "illegal"? Alcohol? Meat? Unthinkable? For a lot of people, yes. Collectively, we have the attention span of, well, of something that doesn't remember things for very long.
On behalf of myself and those who may care, and perhaps those who may not, and for what it's worth, I would like to apologize to God, the Founding Fathers, and the children for what we have done and what we do to the gift that was given to us, "on this day", 1776.

Electronic tattoo display: "Waterproof and powered by pizza"

Jim Mielke's wireless blood-fueled display is a true merging of technology and body art. At the recent Greener Gadgets Design Competition, the engineer demonstrated a subcutaneously implanted touch-screen that operates as a cell phone display, with the potential for 3G video calls that are visible just underneath the skin.
The basis of the 2x4-inch "Digital Tattoo Interface" is a Bluetooth device made of thin, flexible silicon and silicone. It´s inserted through a small incision as a tightly rolled tube, and then it unfurls beneath the skin to align between skin and muscle. Through the same incision, two small tubes on the device are attached to an artery and a vein to allow the blood to flow to a coin-sized blood fuel cell that converts glucose and oxygen to electricity. After blood flows in from the artery to the fuel cell, it flows out again through the vein.

Hormone experts worried about plastics, chemicals

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Hormone experts said on Wednesday they are becoming worried by a chemical called bisphenol A, which some politicians say they want taken out of products and which consumers are increasingly shunning.
They said they have gathered a growing body evidence to show the compound, also known as BPA, might damage human health. The Endocrine Society issued a scientific statement on Wednesday calling for better studies into its effects.
Studies presented at the group's annual meeting show BPA can affect the hearts of women, can permanently damage the DNA of mice, and appear to be pouring into the human body from a variety of unknown sources.
BPA, used to stiffen plastic bottles, line cans and make smooth paper receipts, belongs to a broad class of compounds called endocrine disruptors.

Fear Rules
It is all very simple if you are an American. America is pure, but other countries, except for our allies, are barbaric.
The same goes for our wars. Everyone we kill, whether they are passengers on Serbian commuter trains or attending weddings, funerals, or children playing soccer in Iraq, is a terrorist, or we would not have killed them. So was the little girl who was raped by our terrorist-fighting troops and then murdered, brutally, along with her family.
America only kills terrorists. If we kill you, you are a terrorist.
Americans are the salt of the earth. They never do any wrong. Only those other people do. Not the Israelis, of course.
And police, prosecutors, and juries never make mistakes. Everyone accused is guilty.
Fear has made every American a suspect, eroded our rights, and compromised our humanity.

Glow-in-the-dark monkeys

A genetically engineered monkey has for the first time passed an introduced "alien" gene to its offspring.
Since breeding is cheaper and easier than genetic engineering, the researchers hope the breakthrough will herald development of monkeys that are better models of human disease than genetically modified mice.
Erika Sasaki of the Central Institute for Experimental Animals in Kawasaki, Japan, gave marmosets a jellyfish gene that made them glow green under UV light.
Virus courier
To engineer the "parents", Sasaki injected monkey embryos with a virus carrying the gene for the green fluorescent protein.
Sasaki then placed embryos carrying the gene into seven surrogate mothers. Of these, four gave birth, producing 1 male and 4 female marmosets that carried the green fluorescent protein (GFP) gene.
Later, when the male baby was sexually mature, he successfully fathered a single offspring which also glowed green, showing that it had inherited the GFP gene. One of the females also produced IVF embryos carrying the gene.

GM-Soy: Destroy the Earth and Humans for Profit
(NaturalNews) Genetically modified (GM) soy accounts for 91 percent of soybeans planted in the US and is rapidly growing throughout the world [1]. The dangerous biotech created science behind the introduction of GMOs (genetically modified organisms) is rapidly mounting and can no longer be ignored by scientists or the public. The biotech propaganda of increasing crop yield and ending world hunger have been proven false, and attempts to skew the simple fact that the sole reasoning for the mass introduction of untested, toxic and dangerous GMOs into our plants, soil, animals and genes is to increase profits at any expense for the large multinational biotech companies.
GM-soy is estimated to be present in up to 70% of all food products found in US supermarkets, including cereals, breads, soymilk, pasta and most meat (as animals are fed GM-soy feed). Although Monsanto has consistently relied on industry-funded data to declare the safety of GM-soy and glyphosate, objective research published in peer-reviewed journals tells another story.

Patriot or Traitor?
The video I am sharing with you this week is extremely controversial.
Watch it to the end to see this Marine’s very interesting assurances regarding your fellow citizens in the US military.
After viewing the video, please answer this question for me:
Is he a patriot or a traitor?
Then forward this blog post to everyone you know…

Never doubt that a small, group of thoughtful citizens...
Once upon a time, there lived a small community of intelligent, interested individuals who worked very hard day and night, but they were happy. Each provided for himself and his family, and each helped others in times of need. Over time, however, problems began to arise in the land. Soon there were many strangers, and the individuals began to lose their commitment to each other. With little to no inspiration, children sat still, listened, and did what they were told before growing up to sit still, listen, and do what they were told. These grown-up children became distracted by matters of no import, but they were told that these matters mattered much, and complacently caring about these matters consumed them. Instead of each taking care of himself and helping others in times of need, the individuals were appointed a big, faceless man to take care of them and everyone else. No one noticed, really, but even if anyone had, then he wouldn’t have been able to do anything about it because he was too busy caring about matters of much import...

Webcam Under Hacker's Control
Reformed hacker Jacques Erasmus from security firm Prevx takes control of a computer by infecting it with trojan software.
The infection allows him to view whatever is on the victim's screen and record his key strokes.
Jacques Erasmus' company downloaded the trojan for research purposes.
The trojan and bank accounts used in this video are real.
The 'victim' in this simulated attack gave permission for his laptop to be infected for the filming.
Uncle Sam's Human Lab Rats
Their stories are a staple of conspiracy culture: broken men, suffering hallucinations and near-total amnesia, who say they are victims of secret government mind-control experiments. Think Liev Schreiber in The Manchurian Candidate or Mel Gibson in Conspiracy Theory. Journalists are a favorite target for the paranoid delusions of this population. So is Gordon Erspamer—and the San Francisco lawyer's latest case isn't helping him to fend off the tinfoil-hat crowd. He has filed suit against the CIA and the US Army on behalf of the Vietnam Veterans of America and six former American soldiers who claim they are the real thing: survivors of classified government tests conducted at the Army's Edgewood Arsenal in Maryland between 1950 and 1975. "I get a lot of calls," he says. "There are a lot of crazy people out there who think that somebody from Mars is controlling their behavior via radio waves." But when it comes to Edgewood, "I'm finding that more and more of those stories are true!"
That government scientists conducted human experiments at Edgewood is not in question. "The program involved testing of nerve agents, nerve agent antidotes, psychochemicals, and irritants," according to a 1994 General Accounting Office (now the Government Accountability Office) report (PDF). At least 7,800 US servicemen served "as laboratory rats or guinea pigs" at Edgewood, alleges Erspamer's complaint, filed in January in a federal district court in California. The Department of Veterans Affairs has reported that military scientists tested hundreds of chemical and biological substances on them, including VX, tabun, soman, sarin, cyanide, LSD, PCP, and World War I-era blister agents like phosgene and mustard. The full scope of the tests, however, may never be known. As a CIA official explained to the GAO, referring to the agency's infamous MKULTRA mind-control experiments, "The names of those involved in the tests are not available because names were not recorded or the records were subsequently destroyed." Besides, said the official, some of the tests involving LSD and other psychochemical drugs "were administered to an undetermined number of people without their knowledge."

One of the Main Sources for the 9/11 Commission Report was Tortured Until He Agreed to Sign a Confession that He Was NOT EVEN ALLOWED TO READ
At least four of the operatives whose interrogation figured in the 9/11 Commission Report have claimed that they told interrogators critical information as a way to stop being "tortured."
Four of them said they gave information only to stop the torture. Although details were redacted in all the detainees’ testimony, the tribunal permitted the inclusion of a letter from a detainee’s father in one case, citing what he claimed was American torture of his son.
This torture only stopped when Majid agreed to sign a statement that he wasn’t even allowed to read.
Indeed, as legal experts have pointed out, and 9/11 Commission Director [Philip] Zelikow tacitly acknowledges, evidence based on torture is not reliable. As the NBC news report states:
Zelikow said the lack of direct access forced the Commission to seek secondary sources and to request the new round of questioning. In the end, says Zelikow, the Commission relied heavily on the information derived from the interrogations, but remained skeptical of it. Zelikow admits that "quite a bit, if not most" of its information on the 9/11 conspiracy "did come from the interrogations."
"We didn’t have blind faith," Zelikow tells NBC News. "We therefore had skepticism. The problems (in getting cooperation from the agency) enforced our concerns about the underlying interrogation.

Christians: Obey your Masters(?)
Remember that every apostle of Christ (except John) was killed by hostile civil authorities opposed to their endeavors. Christians throughout church history were imprisoned, tortured, or killed by civil authorities of all stripes for refusing to submit to their various laws and prohibitions. Did all of these Christian martyrs violate God's principle of submission to authority?
So, even the great prophets, apostles, and writers of the Bible (including the writer of Romans Chapter 13) understood that human authority--even civil authority--is limited.
Beyond that, we in the United States of America do not live under a monarchy. We have no king. There is no single governing official in this country. America's "supreme Law" does not rest with any man or any group of men. America's "supreme Law" does not rest with the President, the Congress, or even the Supreme Court. In America, the U.S. Constitution is the "supreme Law of the Land." Under our laws, every governing official publicly promises to submit to the Constitution of the United States. Do readers understand the significance of this distinction? I hope so.
This means that in America the "higher powers" are not the men who occupy elected office, they are the tenets and principles set forth in the U.S. Constitution. Under our laws and form of government, it is the duty of every citizen, including our elected officials, to obey the U.S. Constitution. Therefore, this is how Romans Chapter 13 reads to Americans:
"Let every soul be subject unto the [U.S. Constitution.] For there is no [Constitution] but of God: the [Constitution] that be [is] ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the [Constitution], resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For [the Constitution is] not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the [Constitution]? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: For [the Constitution] is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for [the Constitution] beareth not the sword in vain: for [the Constitution] is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake. For this cause pay ye tribute also: for [the Constitution is] God's minister, attending continually upon this very thing. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor."

Facebook/MySpace/YouTube: Meet Your Enemy
Through the creation of 4 proactive Facebook groups, The JIDF initiated a 35 day campaign urging 5,000 people to report all the following groups. During that time, 106 groups were deleted, impacting 125,290 hate mongering, terror supporting antisemites. The list that follows are the groups which remain. Many more groups crop up daily. At this point, it is impossible for The JIDF to continue listing all the new groups. Significant funds need to be raised in order to effectively fight this problem. Also, Jewish Leadership must coordinate with the management of Facebook to help develop plans to fight this problem. Since Facebook has ignored the thousands of complaints, the media has to do its job to report the problem in order to pressure Facebook to do something and the government should be alerted as to possible terrorist recruiting and activity.

Killer Instinct
Kenny Florian
Killer instinct. You either got it or you don’t, right? Wrong! I believe that killer instinct is learned and honed over time. To ward off the uneducated MMA fan, I do NOT mean “killer instinct” in the literal sense. Nobody involved in MMA is trying to kill another human being. The killer instinct I’m referring to is the kind we see in many sports. The moment a basketball player decides to dunk the ball over his opponent, the moment a football player makes the game-ending tackle, or the moment a NASCAR driver decides to pass the car in front of him: These are all examples of killer instinct.
In the cage, killer instinct is essential for finishing off your opponent with a decisive technique. There are many ingredients to the killer-instinct recipe for a MMA fighter. First of all, you must have the proper fighting skills to finish the fight. Second, you must have the tactical skills to choose the right attack. Third, you need the eye to recognize the moment to attack. Fourth, precision and timing are essential to landing your techniques. Fifth, and last, there’s the lack of sympathy for your opponent that comes at the critical moment, when you realize “it’s either you or me.” I am unsure if that comes from a dark place in your mind, in your heart, or both. But wherever it is, it is the realization that you must destroy your opponent without mercy. All these ingredients generate the thoughts and movements that combine to create the lovely crescendo of fighting will, skill, and brutality that we call “killer instinct.”

Question Authority (Unless I Say Not To)
Anyone who dares to question authority, to propose that these false alternatives are intellectually bankrupt, is on the "fringe," you see. These are the approved alternatives, citizen. Choose from among them. The experts know what is best.
Citizen: But the experts have been all wrong! Shouldn’t we question them? Shouldn’t we listen to the people who had a clue?
Commissar: Let us hear no more of this anti-social talk about your betters. Stay away from the fringe, citizen. Listen to the experts.

A Taste of American "Democracy"
Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and News about the Economy
Free health care for everyone is possible, without raising taxes. Cost is not the issue, the government has plenty of money already. The problem is that the thought of sacrificing any corporate and government wealth on such a service is inconceivable to them.
The United States is a Constitutional Republic, not a democracy. Government, however, spends billions of your dollars and thousands of man-hours trying to convince the general public otherwise. Yet, when faced with a situation that can be categorized as an exercise in democracy, the myth of "majority rule" is exposed for the lie that it really is. Government has become one that does not care about the People, only money and power. They make the decisions. You don't.

Osama bin Dead
Two weeks ago, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zadari suggested that Osama bin Laden might be dead, saying that U.S. and Pakistani intelligence agencies had been unable to detect any sign of the world’s most wanted man since an audio recording of his voice was released in March.
Sunday morning, Zadari went further: “I don’t think he’s alive,” the president told NBC’s David Gregory. “I have a strong feeling and reason to believe that.” Zadari continued: “I have asked my counterparts in the American intelligence services and they haven’t heard [from] him in seven years.”

PARIS ? Osama bin Laden is dead. The news first came from sources in Afghanistan and Pakistan almost six months ago: the fugitive died in December and was buried in the mountains of southeast Afghanistan. Pakistan's president, Pervez Musharraf, echoed the information. The remnants of Osama's gang, however, have mostly stayed silent, either to keep Osama's ghost alive or because they have no means of communication.

On October 24 [2001] a Chinese internet news site, Zhongxin Wang, ran a piece describing in detail the purported assassination of Osama bin Laden and Taliban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar by members of their retinue at an underground base near Kandahar on October 16. They were both shot twice in the back. One of bin Laden's sons and two of Omar's were also killed. The story was picked up today by the Tokyo-based Yomiuru Shimbun, the largest daily newspaper in Japan.

Usama bin Laden has died a peaceful death due to an untreated lung complication, the Pakistan Observer reported, citing a Taliban leader who allegedly attended the funeral of the Al Qaeda leader.
"The Coalition troops are engaged in a mad search operation but they would never be able to fulfill their cherished goal of getting Usama alive or dead," the source said.
Bin Laden, according to the source, was suffering from a serious lung complication and succumbed to the disease in mid-December, in the vicinity of the Tora Bora mountains. The source claimed that bin Laden was laid to rest honorably in his last abode and his grave was made as per his Wahabi belief.
About 30 close associates of bin Laden in Al Qaeda, including his most trusted and personal bodyguards, his family members and some "Taliban friends," attended the funeral rites. A volley of bullets was also fired to pay final tribute to the "great leader."

Earlier on Saturday, the French newspaper L'Est Republicain cited a report by the French intelligence service, Direction Generale des Services Exteriors (DGSE), saying that Saudi intelligence officials "seem to have become convinced that Osama bin Laden is dead." The report quoted by the newspaper said the Saudis believe bin Laden "might have succumbed to a very serious case of typhoid fever resulting in partial paralysis of his lower limbs while in Pakistan on August 23, 2006."

Cincinnati City Council's Pot Policy Hypocrisy
Council Makes Permanent Marijuana Ordinance
Cincinnati's ordinance beefing-up the penalties for marijuana possession isn't going anywhere.
It would have expired Wednesday, but council made sure that it didn't.

*Here is what happened last year:

Special Report! The Effectiveness of Ordinance 910-23 (The Cincinnati Anti-Marijuana Law)
After intense lobbying, I was able to convince Council members Jeff Berding and Leslie Ghiz to amend the ordinance with a sunset clause, which means the law will expire on March 29th of this year unless renewed.
Despite the solid evidence that increasing marijuana penalties would increase crime and despite the fact that not one citizen testified in favor of the new law, six out of nine City Council members voted for the ordinance. Vice Mayor Jim Tarbell and Council member David Crowley voted against it. Council member Jeff Berding was not present for the vote.
At the full Council vote on this ordinance, several council members expressed skepticism about its potential effectiveness. The history of the war on drugs shows that that skepticism was well-founded.
During the vote on this ordinance last year, two Council members made a promise. Cecil Thomas said: “And I promise you, if the statistics do not show that this is helping a year from now, I’ll be the first to say it’s not working.” Leslie Ghiz said: “And I promise you…in twelve months I will beat Mr. Thomas to the punch. If we do not have statistics it is working and it is curbing the drug crimes in this city, I will be the first to ask to have it repealed.” I called the offices of Mr. Thomas and Ms. Ghiz to ask for comments on their statements, but my calls were not returned.

Facebook urged to remove Holocaust-denial groups
Editor's note: Questioning specific numbers of victims of the holocaust, as well as any criticism of Israeli action or policy is prosecutable under "hate crime" and "hate speech" legislation as "anti-semitism". In other words, if you don't agree with it, you are a Jew-hater. The United States gives billions of tax dollars to Israel every year.

(CNN) -- Part of the power of social networking is the ability to form communities with like-minded individuals.
But what happens when those communities are offensive to others?
That issue is at the heart of attempts by a Dallas, Texas, attorney to have social-networking site Facebook remove pages for Holocaust deniers.
The Holocaust Denial movement seeks to deny or minimize the Holocaust, in which Nazis killed about six million European Jews during World War II.
Attorney Brian Cuban, brother of Dallas Mavericks team owner Mark Cuban, has been trying since last year to have the pages of groups with such names as "Holocaust: A Series of Lies," and "Holocaust is a Holohoax" removed from Facebook.
He pointed out that Facebook has removed groups based on complaints before and said the site is "setting the subjective standard on what they remove and what they don't."
"There is no First Amendment right to free speech in the private realm," Cuban said. "This isn't a freedom-of-speech issue. Facebook is free to set the standard that they wish."

College Student Shoots, Kills Home Invader
COLLEGE PARK, Ga. -- A group of college students said they are lucky to be alive and they’re thanking the quick-thinking of one of their own. Police said a fellow student shot and killed one of two masked me who burst into an apartment.
Channel 2 Action News reporter Tom Jones met with one of the students to talk about the incident.
“Apparently, his intent was to rape and murder us all,” said student Charles Bailey.

*This is an example of how "gun control" legislation protects criminals and results in the deaths of countless more people, who are actually just more victims of the criminals. Criminals, by definition, disregard the law. so to think that anti-gun laws will keep criminals from getting guns is beyond dumb. Another example is the Virginia Tech shooting. More people died because guns were not allowed on campus, so no one could defend themselves or the people around them.

Prison Awaiting Hostile Bloggers
Proposed congressional legislation would demand up to two years in prison for those whose electronic speech is meant to “coerce, intimidate, harass, or cause substantial emotional distress to a person.”
Instead of prison, perhaps we should say gulag.
The proposal by Rep. Linda Sanchez, D-Los Angeles, would never pass First Amendment muster, unless the U.S. Constitution was altered without us knowing. So Sanchez, and the 14 other lawmakers who signed on to the proposal, are grandstanding to show the public they care about children and are opposed to cyberbullying.
The meaasure, H.R. 1966, is labeled the Megan Meier Cyberbullying Prevention Act. It’s designed to target the behavior that led to last year’s suicide of the 13-year-old Meier.
In response to Meier’s suicide, prosecutors turned to an anti-hacking statute, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, and prosecuted Lori Drew. She was accused of violating MySpace’s terms of service agreement in what prosecutors said was a complex conspiracy to harass Meier via a fake MySpace online profile.
